Artec 4D / 3D Scanner
4D Scanning - 3D Scanning in real-time - up to 15 frames per secondYou can now scan in 4D. 4D scanning is 3D scanning plus time, the fourth dimension. The Artec 4D/ 3D Scanner works just like a regular video camera, but instead of a two-dimensional image, the result is a three-dimensional one with speeds of up to 15 surfaces per second! With the Artec 4D / 3D scanner you can now scan objects that are moving in 3D and extract 3D frames of an instant in time. Thus, the scanning process becomes extremely straightforward: simply walk around the object and scan it from various angles, while the accompanying software combines all the scanned images into one. The real time scanning capability has applications in animaiton and medical imaging to capture real facial expressions and body shape changes in real time. Portability The Artec is a handheld 3D scanner, which allows the user to scan
various objects with ease. Having the ability to walk around the object,
scanning every side of it is especially important when the objects cannot
be moved. To scan an object, there is no need to place countless markers all over it. The system uses unique geometry of each object to properly correlate the scanned images and to join them into one 3D image in real time (during the actual scanning process)! 4D Scanning of moving objectsBecause the Artec 3D Scanner is almost a 3D camera in fact, it can be used to not only scan stationary objects, but dynamic ones as well. This can be especially useful in medical applications and movie production where it’s vital to capture an actor’s facial expressions in 3D. These individual 3D frames of an instant in time can be exported for complex analysis of objects that interact with each other, such as a person getting into and out of a vehicle. Australian ApplicationsCurrent Australian applications include full head and body scanning; car accessory manufacturing; casting quality inspection and reverse engineering; university design and sports movement / human movement among many others. Scanner Software & Computer RequirementsThe supplied software guides users through the entire scanning process all the way through to the refinement of the final image. For a more detailed description, please watch the video guide links below. To reach the highest frame rates a powerful computer such as Quad core with 64 bit operating system is recommended. Frame rates between 5 and 10 frames per second can be expected for Core 2 Duo computers with fast processors. Exporting into other formatsUsing the included software application, export the 3D model into one of many other popular formats: STL, OBJ, PLY or WRL. The images then can be utilized in ZBrush, 3D Studio Max, Maya, Rapidform and other software programs used to manipulate 3D images. Various scanner sizes for various objects
Artec have developed various-sized scanners specifically to accommodate the scanning of a range of objects: from a matchbook to a whole person. It is recommended that the appropriate-sized scanner is used for a specific purpose to arrive at the final 3D image quickly and most efficiently. In certain cases, a combination of two scanners can be used to maximize accuracy and efficiency. Available 3D camera sizes: L (large), M (medium), and S (small) Further information is available on the Artec website: www.artec3d.com Artec 3D scanners are manufactured by Artec Group Inc.
